When you feel overwhelmed by life’s demands, trials, and emotions, you are not alone. God welcomes you into his rest and peace.
You Are Welcomed by a loving God is the gospel truth we need to hear when life is an unruly combination of responsibilities, relationships, interruptions, dreams, and drama. In this ten-week devotional Bible study, author and women’s ministry leader Trish Donohue helps women who are weary turn to the Lord, put down their burdens, rest in his welcome, and then welcome others to walk with Jesus too.
Trish shares stories of biblical men and women who brought their burdens to the Lord. Each story exemplifies a different sort of pressure, including busyness, disillusionment, crisis, isolation, envy, doubt, fear, and failure. You are not alone in what you’re facing, and God wants to meet you in the same ways he has shown himself to his people from the beginning. A prayer journal with coordinating cover is also available.
"As a working mom, I often wake in the morning with a list of things to do and needs to take care of already running through my head. Rarely am I intentional to consider and pursue my own need for refuge, rest, and refreshment. Where do I even start? It's easier to start with the day's to-do list, so before I know it, I'm off and running. Trish Donohue understands the tension we feel and knows the time constraints we're under, and she also knows how much we need Jesus. She gives us an accessible runway to meet with him. Just what we need."

"I've known Trish for twenty years and have watched her depend on God through life's ups and downs. Over that time, she's cut a well-worn path to the Savior. You are Welcomed is an invitation to join Trish on a daily journey to better know and depend on Jesus. I'll be getting a copy for my wife and daughters. I want them to benefit from the biblical truths and wise counsel Trish offers in this beautiful resource."

"Life is often a lot, but the encouragement and advice of a godly woman with life experience makes it easier to bear. In this book, Trish Donohue does what the best of friends do: she points us back to God's Word, where we find strength for our souls and courage for our circumstances. Packed with Scripture, these brief meditations will refresh your heart with the gospel of Jesus Christ."
Nicole Whitacre, Coauthor of Girl Talk, True Feelings, and True Life
"The Lord of the feast invites us to come. Yet, some of us are strangely slow in our coming. Trish Donohue's book extends a bridge and lends a hand to women who want to think deeply about Christ and their lives of faith. The feast awaits."
Irene Sun, Author of Taste and See: All About God's Goodness
"When life feels overwhelming, it's tempting to grit our teeth and try to claw our way out of the chaos on our own. You Are Welcomed shows us a better way. Relating common experiences with timeless truth, each devotion lifts our eyes to the God who sees our struggles and is strong enough and tender enough to help us."

While the author shares lots of biblical truth and great questions to ponder and pray about, I noticed repeated references to “Magic” particularly in descriptions of nature. Initially it seemed like her intent was to express awe and wonder but I personally found the language distracting by the beginning of week 6. She says, “magic that only God can create,” and that’s when I was done. Magic should not be used in the same sentence with God’s creation let alone God himself. He is holy. Period. I believe the author may have intended to help weary women draw closer to Christ for rest but these magical references distract from that message. Just wanted to give you a heads up before I post the review. Sidebar: By the way, I noticed one reference to magic in You Are Redeemed but it was isolated and had nothing to do with God. I felt that the author used the term in the proper context.
As a homeschooling mom of young children, I was drawn to this devotional because of its promise to offer rest for weary women and point them back to Jesus. The structure is thoughtful—10 weeks of gospel-centered reflection designed to help women lay down burdens, trust God’s story, and welcome others into that same grace. What I appreciated most as I read through the first five weeks was how the author connected the truths of the New Testament to the stories of the Old. She offers gentle but clear insight into how we often try to rewrite God’s story for our lives—taking the pen into our own hands instead of resting in His good and sovereign plan. Many of the reflection questions stirred meaningful prayer in my heart, and the devotional’s encouragement to share what you’ve received with others was a beautiful way to end each day. That said, I ultimately chose not to finish the devotional. Throughout several entries, I noticed repeated references to “magic”—particularly in descriptions of nature and God’s creation. While I understand the author’s intent may have been to express awe or wonder, I personally found the language to be distracting and inconsistent with how Scripture describes God’s power and creative work. By week six, I encountered another reference—“magic that only God can create”—and realized I couldn’t continue with a clear conscience. I truly believe the author’s heart is to help women draw near to Christ, and I did find several entries edifying. However, because of the repeated use of language that I believe can be confusing or misleading in a Christian context, I’ve chosen not to continue. If you’re a believer looking for a devotional that points to the gospel and encourages rest, there is beauty here—but I would recommend previewing the language to discern if it aligns with your convictions.
Trish Donohue is such a compelling author. She challenges you to view your daily life and difficult situations in a new way, and surrender all of them to the Lord. She asks insightful questions, and brings Biblical characters to life. I am on my second time through this book and there is so much wisdom in these pages I can imagine I will want to repeat the study multiple times.

My sister wanted one when I told her about it so I got one for her. I bought 7 more to give away to others. Obviously I highly recommend this book if you long to be closer to Jesus as a way of life❣️
This devotional is amazing. It’s an easy read but very profound words and content. I have bought 4 so far to give as gifts. It’s beautiful.
On day one of starting this devotional, I felt seen. As a mom to a blended family with 4 kids, I felt this devotional was a reasonable amount of time, perfect content, and exact the amount of interaction I wanted. Each topic has a five day study. Each five day study had 3 applicable questions. The book feels so luxurious with beautiful artwork, thick paper, and each week has a new color which makes it fun and engaging. I find my relationship with my Savior deepening as a resistor of “You Are Welcomed.” I’m purchasing this for all of my mom friends.
