Paul S. Kim’s study of Daniel guides Christians in how to live with courage and conviction in a world that is not their home.
How do you live as a Christian in a world that doesn’t follow Jesus? The Bible speaks of the Christian life as living in exile. In exile, you feel like you’re not at home, and there’s a sense of pressure to conform to outward pressures. Some people get lost in fear, and others just try to blend in. But the book of Daniel calls us to live out our faith without compromise while still reaching out in love to those around us.
Daniel: Standing Firm in Adversity challenges participants to live by faith, even when it causes suffering. Readers will see that Daniel’s bravery in the face of opposition and threats came from his absolute trust in his God, who brought him to Babylon to be a blessing to others.
Paul S. Kim, MDiv, is the Senior Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in San Diego, a multiethnic and intergenerational church that started as a church plant, merged with another church, and now actively engages in church planting and discipleship movements around the world. He is the author of Daniel: Firm in Adversity. Paul is married to Linda, and they have three children.
“Paul Kim has given us a culturally relevant, gospel-saturated, eminently practical overview of the heartbeat and real hero of the book of Daniel. This study will fuel hope and help believers experience just how accessible and timely the book of Daniel is to our generation.”
Scotty Smith, Pastor Emeritus, Christ Community Church, Franklin, TN; author

Joel E. Kim, President, Westminster Seminary California
“Paul Kim has written a helpful guide to the book of Daniel, asking readers to see God’s sovereignty in their suffering and find eternal hope in their hardship. This is a Bible study relevant to every Christian today, living in exile and needing to see Jesus.”
Jen Pollock Michel, Author and speaker
“The book of Daniel can feel both difficult and distant, but Paul Kim guides us with a sharp mind and a pastor’s heart. It’s hard to balance theological richness and real-life application, but this ten-week study exists in that beautiful tension.”
