Description

Big Thoughts for Tiny Tots introduces preschoolers to the fundamentals of faith with a series of simple questions and answers right on their level.

Teaching your toddlers and preschoolers about the Bible doesn’t have to be a daunting experience. It can be as easy as starting to ask them a few simple questions. Little kids love to ask questions—it’s how they learn! In Big Thoughts for Tiny Tots, author Jared Kennedy presents sixteen questions and answers in catechism style to introduce children ages 2–5 to the gospel message.

Each question and answer is accompanied by a Bible verse to show that what’s being taught is rooted in the Scriptures. Bright illustrations will keep children engaged. As families read this book together again and again, repetition will instill the message of God’s Word in children’s little hearts and minds for a lifetime.

  • Follows a simple question, answer, Scripture format. For example: Q) Who made the world? A) God did. He made everything! “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1 CSB)
  • Bold, colorful illustrations by Trish Mahoney will capture and hold young children’s attention.
  • Part of the Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible series and a companion resource to the Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible Curriculum for Toddlers and Preschoolers.

Simple, Repeatable Introduction to Foundational Truths

Posted by Lexi Thom on 03 28 2026

Big Thoughts for Tiny Tots is a simple, well-structured introduction to foundational Christian beliefs for young children. The book follows a catechism-style format with 16 short question-and-answer pairs, making it easy to read in small portions and revisit often. Each question addresses a core theological concept, and the answers are written in clear, age-appropriate language that’s accessible for toddlers and preschoolers. One of the strengths of this book is its simplicity. The repetition built into the format helps reinforce understanding, and over time, children can begin to recognize and even memorize the responses. It also naturally lends itself to use beyond reading—parents can incorporate the questions into everyday conversations as opportunities arise. Overall, this is a helpful "bite-size" resource for families looking to introduce biblical truths in a manageable and consistent way during the early years. *I received a review copy of this book. Bite-sized Bible Truths, Perfect for Littles

    Posted by Mariama on 03 27 2026

Big Thoughts for Tiny Tots is a thoughtfully crafted, theologically rich guide for teaching little ones the truths of Scripture. It takes big biblical concepts—like sin, Christ, and the Holy Spirit—and breaks them down into simple, bite-sized truths that toddlers can begin to understand. This isn’t a traditional storybook—it’s designed as a guide for parents, Sunday school teachers, and ministry leaders. It uses a simple question-and-answer format—questions a young child might naturally ask—followed by clear, concise answers and a supporting Bible verse. That structure makes it easy to use intentionally, whether at home or as part of your teaching rhythm. The writing is clear and age-appropriate, and the illustrations are engaging and purposeful. What I especially appreciate is how it takes something that can feel overwhelming—teaching doctrine—and makes it approachable in everyday moments. Whether you’re a new believer learning alongside your kids or a seasoned mom looking for a solid, gospel-centered resource, this is a tool worth keeping on hand. Simple, faithful, and practical—it’s a strong starting point for introducing your little ones to the big truths of Scripture.

Big Truths made simple and easy to remember

Posted by Emily Paul on 03 20 2026

Finding a solid introduction to the Gospel for toddlers can be tricky, but Big Thoughts for Tiny Tots is a standout. It uses a simple Q&A catechism style—16 questions in total—that makes big truths manageable for little ones. What I loved: Scripture-Focused: Each answer is paired with a Bible verse, making it easy to incorporate scripture memory into our routine. Engaging: The illustrations are vibrant and "eye-catching," which is a must for keeping a wiggly toddler focused. Truth-Driven: The answers are simple enough for a child to grasp without watering down the actual Biblical message. This would be a great read for over meal times or at bedtime to help children remember big truths about God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, the nature of sin and salvation in a short and understandable way.

Great resource for families with littles

    Posted by Kathryn J McIlwraith on 03 11 2026

As a first-time mom to my own “tiny tot,” I’m constantly looking for reliable, child-friendly ways to tell this little soul about her need for a  Savior. Young minds are always asking questions. Big Thoughts for Tiny Tots by Jared Kennedy uses questions and answers to communicate biblical truths. Each page has a Scripture reference to support the truth on that page. The illustrations by Trish Mahoney are playful, inviting, and inclusive. They will keep a child’s attention while an adult reads. I believe that this book will be a valuable resource for our family as we continue to disciple the young child that God has placed in our care. (If your family avoids illustrations of the Godhead, note that this book does contain illustrations of Christ as a Shepherd and King, and of the Holy Spirit as a dove.)
