Description

Kids, even you can learn soteriology!
Soteriology studies how God saves us
From the wrath of God and our sin that enslaves us.
So it's not just a bunch of big words for our head,
But how Christ took the curse we deserve when he bled.

The Acrostic of Salvation is a joy to read and recite. Young readers will learn "soteriology" the study of how God saves us.

Jonathan Gibson and Timothy Brindle present an alphabet of words related to salvation, written to a rhyming beat: A for adoption, B for baptism, C for communion, all the way to Z. All the words paint a detailed and varied portrait of what salvation through Jesus is all about.

Using the alphabet to teach about God has a rich history in the Bible, especially in the Psalms and Lamentations. Several of the psalms notably Psalm 119 begin with letters of the Hebrew alphabet, forming an acrostic that spells out the entire alphabet.

The authors make learning about soteriology memorable and fun. Their book shows "By faith, we're now connected to Jesus our treasure; Forgiven and changed in him, he keeps us forever."

Illustrated by C. S. Fritz, The Acrostic of Salvation is the third in the series, Acrostic Theology for Kids, introducing children ages five to eleven to systematic theology uniquely on their age level.

Timothy Brindle, ThM, MDiv, is a Pastor at Olive Street Presbyterian Church (PCA), and a candidate for the PhD in Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary, where he serves as the Senior Stewardship Officer. He is the author of The Unfolding, coauthor of the Acrostic Theology for Kids series, and has released several Christian hip-hop albums since 2003. Timothy and his wife, Floriana, have nine children and live in the Philadelphia area.

Endorsements

"Every Christian parent, as well as pastors and leaders of Christ's Church, are always in need of Biblically faithful and effective instruments to assist in communicating the Gospel clearly to the "lambs" in the flock. This volume fulfills that desire beyond expectation with its effective teaching style, as well as interest attracting presentation, while communicating the life-changing power of the Gospel and call to Christ allowing children 'to come unto Him.'"
Harry L. Reeder III, Pastor Teacher, Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, Alabama

"Whoever said solid theology is only for adults neither understands children nor theology! This wonderful series persuasively speaks deep truth to children and grown-ups in an imaginative, memorable way. It will revolutionize the way they learn the things that matter most in life."
William Edgar, Professor of Apologetics, Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia; jazz musician

"Biblical professor and parent, Jonny Gibson, and hip-hop artist and parent, Timothy Brindle, have crafted a readable and reliable series for basic Christian doctrines. We parents just might find ourselves discovering some new treasures along with our kids!"
Michael Horton, J. Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology, Westminster Seminary, California

"The Acrostic Theology for Kids series is a fun and engaging way to introduce kids (and their parents!) to important Bible words and concepts!"
Nancy Guthrie, Author of What Every Child Should Know About Prayer

"God has chosen to make use of rhyme in order to help His people better learn and remember His truth. TimothyBrindle and Jonny Gibson have given parents and teachers a simple resource to assist children in learning the deep theological truths about Christ. Additionally, they have highlighted the importance of knowing the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and the Apostle's Creed. This is a richly creative resource."
Pastor Nick Batzig, Senior Pastor, Church Creek PCA in Charleston, SC and Associate Editor, Ligonier Ministries

"Learning is helped by memory aids and using the alphabet in this way is especially great for kids. It helps them remember AND gives them a sense of accomplishment, since they already know the alphabet and can tie new ideas to it. Looking forward to hearing Timothy rap it!"
Elizabeth W. D. Groves, Lecturer in Biblical Hebrew, Westminster Seminary, Philadelphia; author; performer

The third of these acrostic books and another perfect book. A beautiful A - Z of salvation which guides you through many of the terms and ideas - it reminds me a little of Shai Linne's Atonement Q & A.

The Acrostic of Salvation would be a great resource for a K-12 Christian school library or a middle or upper elementary classroom.

Gibson and Brindle have created an acrostic alphabet of salvation. I love this list of salvation-related terms and the verses that go with them. Some of the words are “hard” words that children don’t normally understand. Words like glorification, intercession, and propitiation are defined in terms that are a bit easier for children to understand. I can see a number of ways parents or educators could use this book to help their children learn about the theology of salvation. One idea I had is to take one letter at a time and memorize the verse. There is a QR code at the back of the book that takes you to a rap of the entire book. Fritz’s illustrations are monograms done in such a way as to further illustrate the concept. There is companion rap and music available for the book which can help children learn the concepts. The Acrostic Theology for Kids series was inspired by John Calvin’s Catechism for the children of the Genevan Church (1537). The Acrostic of Salvation would be a great resource for a K-12 Christian school library or a middle or upper elementary classroom.

I enjoyed reading The Acrostic of Salvation

The Acrostic of Salvation: A Rhyming Soteriology for Kids is the third installment of the Acrostic Theology for Kids by Timothy Brindle and Jonathan Gibson. Acrostic Theology for Kids is a series of books that teaches children age 5-11 about theological truths in the form of a rhyme/rap. Using the alphabet as a guide, kids will learn attributes about the Salvation that Christ gives. Each letter has corresponding Bible Verse(s) to describe the attributes. There is also a QR code in the book where you can listen to The Acrostic of Salvation: A Rhyming Soteriology for Kids and actually listen to the book as the rhyme/rap is intended to be read. After reading The Acrostic of Jesus, I knew I had to read The Acrostic of Salvation: A Rhyming Soteriology for Kids! I enjoyed reading The Acrostic of Salvation and thought the rhyme that Mr. Brindle and Mr. Gibson wrote was artistically done. I love many of words that were chosen to describe the Salvation of Christ and how the attributes help us to build a firm foundation in our relationship with Christ. I love how some of the words chosen not only describe what Jesus did for us, but tells us of ways we can honor Him in return (through getting Baptized and taking Communion). If you are looking for a resource to teach kids more about Jesus and what He did, then I highly recommend The Acrostic of Salvation: A Rhyming Soteriology for Kids.
