Description

We live in a world filled with anxiety, turmoil, and constant change. But anchoring our hope in Christ brings us the security we so desperately need.

We may be tempted to think that feelings of instability and insecurity are mostly modern problems, but they have plagued the human heart from the beginning. They were challenges of the church in Colossae. Paul wrote his letter to address the specific ways that the Colossians' stability was being jeopardized by clever lies and the infiltration of false beliefs. He prayed and longed for them to hold firm to the hope of the gospel as he reminded them that they had all they needed in Jesus.

Through You Are Secure, an eight-week devotional centered on the book of Colossians, Aimee Joseph helps us see that it is our union with Christ that fills our hearts with peace. Amidst a largely insecure world, our security is anchored into the unchanging person of Jesus.

  • Women will grow in Christ-confidence and learn to turn to Jesus for daily help with fears, insecurities, and change.
  • Easy-to-follow daily format is suitable for individuals or small groups and relatable for busy women of all ages and stages.
  • Part of the Gospel Truth for Women series, helping women to identify their struggles, go to Scripture to meet God, then share those truths with family and friends.
Aimee Joseph is a church-planting wife who serves alongside her husband who pastors Center City Church (San Diego, CA) and a mother to three sons. She is the author of Demystifying Decision Making and You Are Secure and has also written for TGC, Desiring God, Risen Motherhood, and Modern Reformation. Her great delight is to equip women to love God's word in the context of the local church.

"In our culture today, identity is a hot topic. People are taught to find their identity in how they feel, what they do, or what they have. But the Bible teaches otherwise. In Aimee Joseph's devotional, You Are Secure, readers are invited to learn from the book of Colossians. These rich, accessible devotions draw us into the heart of the gospel. Aimee is a friendly and gracious guide, walking us through the chapters of Paul's letter, pointing us to an identity that is solid and secure. It's not found in what we feel, what job we do, or what we desire; it is found in our union with Christ alone."
Christina Fox, Speaker; author of Who Are You? A Little Book About Your Big Identity

"Finding our gospel footing in an anxious and unstable world can often be difficult. Aimee Joseph's new devotional encourages the reader to divert their thoughts from their temporal concerns to set their minds on the things that are above. Unshakeable

    Posted by Aaron on 12 16 2025

In You Are Secure, Aimee Joseph offers a deeply encouraging devotional study from the book of Colossians. Through her insightful reflections and practical applications, she helps readers grasp the profound truths of this epistle while drawing attention to how these truths shape our identity and security in Christ. Identity and Faith One of the standout features of this book is its design, which feels fresh and modern, almost magazine-like. This unique layout makes the book easy to engage with and invites interaction with the text in a new and refreshing way. It’s not just a devotional; it’s an experience that draws you in, encouraging you to reflect and apply the principles of Colossians as you read. Joseph excels at explaining complex theological concepts in concrete, relatable terms. It is clear that she has studied and applied this text to her own life. She helps unpack ideas like identity and faith, making them accessible and practical for everyday life. One memorable takeaway from the book was her comparison of the Gospel to the alphabet. Joseph writes that the Gospel is not just the “ABCs” of the Christian life, but the “A to Z” — it is the foundation of our faith, the ongoing source of our sanctification, and the lens through which we view all of life. This was a powerful reminder that the Gospel is not just for the beginning of our Christian walk, but for every step along the way. Prayer Prayer is a central theme in Colossians, and Joseph emphasizes its importance throughout the book. She encourages readers to find “extra pockets of time” for prayer, rather than reaching for our phones or distractions. In a world full of noise and constant connection, this reminder to carve out intentional time with God was both timely and convicting. What makes Joseph’s writing even more engaging is her personal touch. She shares her own experiences and struggles, including a particularly vulnerable moment when she felt overwhelmed while praying for her son. This honesty makes her writing relatable, and her transparency encourages readers to bring their own worries and prayers to the Lord with a sense of power and security. I found myself challenged to pray with more conviction, especially for my children, that they would find their ultimate security in Christ alone. Stand Firm Joseph also does a wonderful job of drawing out the rich theology in Colossians. She explores key themes such as reconciliation, adoption, sanctification, and perseverance — all central to the believer’s security in Christ. These theological truths not only provide a solid foundation for understanding the Christian life but also serve as a wellspring of encouragement as we face trials and uncertainties. One of the most powerful aspects of Joseph’s writing is her call to stand firm in the faith. She speaks directly against the shame that so often holds believers back and challenges us to confidently speak the truth of the Gospel to one another. Her exhortation to speak with boldness about the security we have in Christ was a refreshing and needed reminder in a world where many believers struggle with doubt or fear. Unshakeable While marketed towards women, I found Joseph’s writing to be perfectly relatable. Personally, I’ve been wrestling with concerns about the security and future of my family, and this book was a timely reminder that our security ultimately rests in Christ alone. The final chapter of the book was particularly impactful, as Joseph invites readers to reflect on their own unique callings, gifts, and experiences. She asks, “What are the specific ways God has equipped you to serve Him?” This question reminded me that my role as a father and my ministry are not random; they are God-given, part of the plan He has for my life. It was a profound reminder that God is sovereign in the small and big details of our lives. After reading You Are Secure, I feel better equipped to lead my family, anchored in the unshakable security that is ours in Christ. This book has not only deepened my understanding of Colossians, but it has also strengthened my confidence as a father and a believer, knowing that my security is not in my circumstances or abilities, but in the finished work of Christ.

    A great study!

    Posted by CK on 02 13 2025

I love how the author uses just a short amount of verses each day for study; that helps me remember a few key verses about security in Christ on a daily basis. The lessons are easy to read and understand, and they are concise, so anyone can complete these studies each day. This study is a great reminder of the love and power of God, and that provides hope, security, and trust in Him.

Beautiful Study with Essential & Encouraging Truth

Posted by Emily Stromquist on 11 06 2024

“Amidst a largely insecure world, our security is anchored into the unchanging person of Jesus”. Not only is this study a beautiful book that could easily be used for a coffee table display, it contains truths from the book of Colossians that address the fear, anxiety, and rampant search for identity that plague our world today. Each day is broken into three small sections - “Identify”, “Believe”, “Consider”. And it’s just the right amount of information to process in one sitting. I would highly recommend this study for a group or for personal use.

    The Perfect Bible Study!

    Posted by J. Collins on 10 29 2024

This is seriously the perfect Bible Study. I am not typically a fan of directed Bible study guides, but Aimee Joseph has done an incredible job with this study. She makes you actually want to stick with it all the way through to see where she’s taking things. I’m currently on Week 2 Day 4, going slowly because I’m not doing it every day, but I am loving this, for several reasons. First of all, this is the prettiest Bible Study book on the planet. The pages feel like velvet somehow and the design is gorgeously eye-catching. But it could be printed on literal cardboard and I’d still be hooked. Content-wise it is a textual study cleverly disguised as a topical study. AKA, you’re reading verse by verse through the book of Colossians but focusing on the theme of identity. Which is why I think this study is perfect. Because it’s neither dry, boring theology nor fluffy, easily-digested inspirational messages. Joseph manages to take the highly intellectual aspects of Colossians and lead you through them into deeply meaningful, personal and practical application. It’s also remarkably flexible depending on how you want to approach your study. The work for each day is short enough that you could just spend 5 minutes a day on it or an hour or two once a week, or an hour every single day (if you have the time for it) because she has such great questions that really make you think! Can’t wait for tomorrow’s reading.
