Description

Children today face many dangers, from cyberbullying to pornography, substance abuse to school shootings. Children also face dangers from within. Like all of us they also struggle with wrong desires that can lead them to make destructive choices. How can parents teach their children to navigate these dangers?

Experienced family and children’s counselor Julie Lowe offers help to parents shepherding their children in a complex world. Lowe guides readers toward biblical wisdom so that they are not consumed with worry or living in denial. She encourages parents to respond to the reality of danger by nurturing their children’s relationship with God and teaching their children to discern good and evil both around them and inside their own hearts. Lowe offers practical guidance for establishing safeguards for children and reminds readers that all of us—parent and child alike—need to trust in our loving heavenly Father, in whose hands our safety ultimately rests.

Julie Lowe, MA, LPC, RPT-S is a licensed professional counselor with over twenty-five years of counseling experience, as well as a registered play therapist supervisor. She has authored several books, including Child Proof, Safeguards, Building Bridges, and the minibooks Helping Your Child with a Bully, Helping Your Anxious Child, and Teens and Suicide. Julie and her husband, Greg, have five children and serve as foster and adoptive parents.
The Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention (ECAP) is a national association of Christian ministries dedicated to child and youth protection. ECAP does this primarily through established Child Safety Standards which are the basis for an independent validation process which results in accreditation. The mission of ECAP is to help ministries create safe places free from abuse where kids can hear the gospel and grow in discipleship.
