Christian Book Awards 2024 Finalist for Young People's Literature
Best-selling author Marty Machowski takes young readers on an exciting biblical voyage to discover the treasure of God's love revealed in Luke's letters to Theophilus in Luke and Acts.
In the tradition of his well-loved bestsellers The Ology and WonderFull, Machowski weaves a study of the Bible with a fictional story. The Treasure follows the adventures of Mira and Theos who discover a sea captain's personal journal which offers clues to a hidden treasure. They can only solve the riddle of the treasure by studying two ancient scrolls, the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts. Young readers will journey with the siblings as they solve their puzzle and discover the captain's treasure in Christ!
While these New Testament books are often thought of as two separate books telling different stories, they are really two halves of one greater story recorded by Luke. Through Luke's retelling of Jesus's work on earth and the Spirit's work in growing the church, we see the Father's love on full display. The Treasure will help children grow in their knowledge and love of God.
"In The Treasure, Marty Machowski takes his young readers on an engaging guided tour through the books of Luke and Acts. As children read the scriptural text, followed by Marty's insightful teachings and reflections on each passage, they will become more deeply acquainted with their Savior, his mission, and his love for mankind."
Jim Daly, President, Focus on the Family
"Drawing young people into the Bible is a challenge for parents these days, but The Treasure does this effectively. It tells the story of Luke and Acts in ways young people can follow. This book will not only introduce your children to Luke and Acts in an attractive way but will also prove useful for engaging family devotionals."
Darrell L. Bock, Executive Director for Cultural Engagement, Howard G. Hendricks Center for Christian Leadership and Cultural Engagement and Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary
"I love how gospel-saturated The Treasure is and how faithful it is to the text of Scripture! I also love all of the fun, practical, real-life examples kids will be able to relate to. Most of all, I love how Marty calls kids to live out what they are reading in lives of devotion to Christ. Highly recommend!"

"Marty has written a treasure for the church essentially a commentary for kids on Luke and Acts! What I did not learn until seminary how the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts are two halves of the same book, and how Luke-Acts unpacks God's plan of salvation from the Old Testament Marty has wonderfully made clear for families, Sunday school classes, and Christian schools. It's very readable, with attractive illustrations for kids of all ages without watering down the gospel. I have a strong feeling that the parents and teachers will get just as much out of this 'treasure' of a resource."

"In this allegorical tale, Marty Machowski makes the story of Jesus and his church clear, understandable, and enjoyable. This book teaches kids they are called into a story much bigger than their own personal faith encounter with Jesus. Rather, they are called into a story involving Jesus's church because God, in his mercy, gives us his friends as our own. I highly recommend this book for any pastors or parents seeking to immerse their children in the grand drama of the Christian faith as lived out in the communion of the saints."
Raymond M. Johnson, Senior Pastor, Christ Church West Chester, West Chester, PA
"Marty has not only gifted parents and grandparents with another book that opens up God's word for children, but he has masterfully written it in a way I imagine spurring a lifelong journey of seeking to find in scripture the treasure of Jesus."

I bought this thinking it was a Devotional. Was happily surprised that it was a bible study. I have it for my sons morning routine in our homeschool. We actually pull our bible out read the verse for the page then read the page. My son loves the riddles at the end. And the treasure mystery. It's brought alot not only to our homeschooling but to our lives. Starting our morning reading our bibles have brought a light to our days.
This book is another amazing success by Marty Machowski! I was so excited to add it to my growing collection of books by him, and excited to see what it was like. I was not disappointed! This is such a fun way for kids to learn about the church. Adding story to theology is something Marty Machowski does really well. Love this book!!!
My family loves Marty Machowski’s children’s books! They are rich in theology, eye-catching, and engaging. The illustrations are beautiful and vividly done. The author weaves a fictional story with a biblical one, taking readers on a journey with siblings Theos and Mira. When they find a jar with a scroll inside featuring letters from a sea captain, they have to follow his clues to find a hidden treasure. The story focuses on the books of Luke and Acts in the Bible. My oldest child is 6 and enjoyed having this read to him during our family devotional time, but I can see this being a wonderful resource for older, more independent readers as well. There’s even a study section in the back to connect Luke and Acts with the Old Testament. Thank you to the author and New Growth Press for my copy.
What child doesn't love an exciting treasure hunt? Mira and Theos discover a sea captain's journal in this fantastic children's story that shares clues to find the hidden treasure. They finally find the ultimate treasure using the ancient scrolls of the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts. The captivating illustrations and the short devotions allow kids and their parents to read a retelling story of Jesus and His new church. Each story ends with a riddle for the children to solve that will lead them to the greatest treasure of all - Jesus! I highly recommend this excellent, theologically informative, engaging, fun, big book!
After finishing "The Ology," I had high hopes when I received a digital advanced reader copy of "The Treasure." All opinions are my own and I'm so glad to share them. This book is phenomenal! I was already reading the Book of Luke with my children during our Bible study time and "The Treasure" is the perfect supplement for it. Separated into chapters of the story of siblings Theos and Mira and their search for treasure and followed by devotions corresponding to respective passages throughout the two New Testament books. You'll want to add this treasure to your home library today.
