Master naturalist and Nat Theo host Eryn Lynum guides young readers on a wonder-filled journey to explore God’s creation.

Where Wonder Leads follows the story of Willow, a budding naturalist always ready for the next adventure—forest trails, museums, zoos, and her own backyard. She discovers the wonder in God’s world, from glowing fireflies and hidden mushrooms to dart frogs and a smiling axolotl. Guided by both scientists and Scripture, Willow discovers that creation isn’t just fascinating—it’s full of lessons about forgiveness, joy, and God’s beautiful redemption.

Lynum blends storytelling, science, and biblical reflection to nurture curiosity about nature. Willow’s story introduces kids to marvelous creatures, plants, and natural phenomena, complete with detailed scientific explanations. Each chapter includes a key scripture and an opportunity to dig deeper into faith and scientific applications. Throughout the story, scientific terms are introduced to grow one’s understanding of God’s intricate designs.

  • Brings the subjects of science and theology to life through engaging storytelling for budding naturalists ages 8-12.
  • Shows the reality and truth of both science and Scripture, presented in a way kids can understand and remember while encouraging them to explore further on their own.
  • Inspires young readers and budding naturalists to enjoy outdoor play and nature study in a way that always points them back to Jesus.

“Where Wonder Leads beautifully reminds children that the more closely we observe creation, the more clearly we see the heart of its Creator. Eryn Lynum inspires young readers to step outside with curiosity and delight, confident that both science and Scripture lead us toward truth, wonder, and worship.”

Eryn Lynum helps children discover that the wonders of creation are not ends in themselves but signposts pointing to their wonderful Creator. As they follow Willow’s story, young readers will wonder at creation and marvel at the God who made it all. This delightful book is sure to awaken curiosity, inspire worship, and help families see God’s fingerprints throughout the world around us.”

“The world does not need more wonders; what it needs is a greater sense of wonderment!  Everything Eryn Lynum writes, speaks, and lives is done excellently, all to God’s glory. Where Wonder Leads is the perfect gift for any nature-loving child, building bridges between our Creator and the glories of his creation!”

Matthew Sleeth, Executive Director, Blessed Earth; author of Reforesting Faith

“If your children’s wonder leads them outside anytime it’s not raining, this delightfully informative book by Eryn Lynum will whet their appetite. When the weather turns sunny, they’ll be off rambling the outdoors to find for themselves God’s wondrous masterpieces. Sooner or later, they’ll “scurry home with tales of high adventure.’”

Where Wonder Leads by Eryn Lynum is a beautiful Christian chapter book that combines nature study, science, Scripture, and wonder for children. After reading Rooted in Wonder, I was excited to see her philosophy of nature study brought into a story for children, and it has been a wonderful addition to our Morning Time.

My older boys have really enjoyed following Willow’s adventures and discovering the fascinating creatures and natural wonders woven throughout the story. I especially appreciate that the book encourages children not just to learn facts about creation, but to slow down, ask questions, and let their curiosity point them back to the Creator.

The “Dig Deeper” and “Time to Explore” sections have also been especially useful in our homeschool. I’ve been using the “Time to Explore” ideas as inspiration for our nature journals and outdoor exploration the following day, while the “Dig Deeper” sections give us an opportunity to connect what we’re learning back to Scripture.

One of my favorite experiences so far was reading the book outside while my boys dug a trench in the dirt. At another point, my son found Woolly Mammoth moth caterpillars while we were reading the chapter about butterflies and brought them over to compare with the book. Those moments are exactly what I love about nature study—the book gives us something to wonder about, and then we get to step outside and experience it for ourselves.

I would highly recommend Where Wonder Leads for Christian homeschool families, Morning Time, nature study, or any child who loves asking questions about the natural world. It’s a beautiful reminder that the more we notice about God’s creation, the more there is to wonder about the God who made it.

Eryn Lynum is a favorite in our house from her Nat Theo podcast, and her new book is wonderful. This book is a nature story and devotional in one. In it’s 13 chapters, we follow along the story of 10-year old Willow as she explores the wonders of God’s creation. From birds to mushrooms to reptiles and beyond, your kids will love following along to see where wonder leads. At the end of each chapter, there is a tie-in to Scripture and suggestions for further exploration. We will be adding this to our nature studies in homeschooling this school year!
